So 6 months after having my baby and still carrying extra weight, my friend suggested registering for Jog Belfast. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea of running. I could barely run the length of myself. But considering it was completely free, I went for it.
The first night I turned up to see lots of men and women, all ages and sizes, which was a relief! My first lap was a shock to the system, someone even asked me if I had asthma! But I just went at my own pace and felt so accomplished when the session was over. Over the weeks I surprised myself at how I actually started to enjoy the runs, even managing to have little chats with people along the way.
On 18th March, I completed my first ever 5k run at Waterworks parkrun. Such an achievement for someone who would have got out of breath running for a bus. Another bonus is that I am 1lb from losing a stone.
if anyone is in the sidelines or in doubt about signing up, my advice is to give it a go. You don't know what you can achieve until you try!
