Hi I'm Judith and I run with Jog Belfast East at Victoria Park doing the Couch to 5k. Who'd have thought I'd ever say that? Definitely not me! I'm mid 40s and do no exercise other than a half hour walk to work and back if I'm feeling energetic. The rest of time I sit at a desk for 7-8 hours a day. Anyway I decided to sign up for this but was a bit late & went on the reserve list..That's the last I'll hear of that I thought but no I got an email saying I'd got a place and joined in week 2.
Now I really wouldn't even run for the bus in case I missed it and embarrassed myself so at first I didn't tell many people I'd started this. I just couldn't imagine doing it for 10 weeks and running 3 miles just seemed impossible. My hips and knees sometimes ache a bit so I didn't know how many weeks I'd manage but I was curious to see how far I'd get.
We are now at week 8!! Only 5 more training sessions to go before the graduation parkrun. Tonight was run 18 minutes walk 2 then run 15....and we all did it!! It feels amazing to think I can do this. The coaches and stewards who do this are fabulous, so encouraging and many of them started off doing this too. I've met lovely new friends and we all support each other and even manage to talk and run too! We will be running5k n just under 3 weeks and nothing is stopping me now. Oh and my hips haven't given me bother since week 3 so no more excuses. Seriously if I can get this far anyone can. Good luck 🏃
